The Yamba Market Ministry is now in its twelfth year. It grew out of a congregation planning day in 2006 where it was decided that we needed to take the Good News to where people were, rather than just waiting for them to come to us. We decided to call the ministry Uniting at the Market because that’s not only who we are but it’s what we aim to do.
We concentrate on two major activities – puppetry and children’s activities. The puppetry is aimed at infants and primary school children. We use our own scripts and try to give them a local slant, and it’s surprising how many adults – even those without children – stop to watch and enjoy. Sometimes we play to a crowd of 40 kids and adults. Between shows we have children’s craft activities to encourage them to stay for the next puppet show, and this gives us the opportunity to chat with their parents. Using craft activities from Messy Church enables us to encourage children and their parents to come along to it too.
Come and see us on the fourth Sunday of each month.
