Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to questions often asked by visitors or a person interested in attending our church. They may help you get to know Yamba-Iluka Uniting Church better, but if you still have a question, please feel free to call or email us. You will find our contact details on the Contact page.

The Uniting Church believes that through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God brings us into right relationship with God, whereby in faith we can:

  • Live in a close, loving, personal, dynamic relationship with the living God;
  • Participate in the worshipping, caring and serving community of Christians;
  • Receive God’s gifts so that life can be what God means it to be – loving, purposeful, joyful, eternal; and
  • Tell others of this good news and live it out in acts of compassion, service and justice in the community.

We have a worship service at Yamba each Sunday at 9:30am, where approximately 30 people attend. In Iluka, the service is held at 2pm on a Saturday and is attended by  a small intimate group of around 10 people .

We value the presence of children in our worship services. There is a children's corner in the church with craft  materials and toys, so your children can stay with you during the service, while also being happily occupied.

Yes! We share in communion in Yamba on the 3rd Sunday of each month and in Iluka on the 1st Saturday of the month. We see communion as a tangible reminder of God’s gift to us in Jesus Christ. We believe in open communion – that means that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is welcome to take communion, whether they are a church member or not.

There are four small groups operating  in Yamba during the week. Three groups meet in members’ homes and the format and study material may vary across the groups. The other meets at the church and is focused on praying primarily for the church and its members. All groups are glad to have guests join them – for more information, look under ‘Get Involved’ in the menu.
